Today was the official opening of the Convention and what a day it was. It started out at the GA Delegation Breakfast with Rev. Lowery and all the GA Delegates. We picked up our credentials and had a good start with instructions from DPGA Chair Mike Berlon. I sat at the table with my favorite fellow delegate, Reese McCranie, from Mayor Reed’s Office. We ran together as a ticket to become delegates in the 5th District. Next, we waited for the shuttle buses to the Convention Center and I took pics with Lowell and Sen. Vincent Fort, who is still kidding with me about being too hard on him during the V-103 Morning Show debate on the TSPLOST that Frank and I hosted. We arrived at the Convention Center to attend the Women’s Caucus where Nancy Pelosi and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz spoke. Electrifying are the words for those two women. I then headed to the Marriott City Center to attend the Latino Leaders Luncheon hosted by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles. I ran into Sen. Barney Frank, a Soror from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. who was too beautiful for words and our own Martin Luther King Jr. It began to rain hard in Charlotte so we took a rest at the Google Lounge before it was time to head to the Time Warrner Arena for the opening gavel.
