ATLANTA (WAOK)- A single mother and her 11 children need your help to stay together as a family. Tacco Cullins told V-103 and WAOK  that she was renting a rundown home for $600 per month when she got into a dispute with the “landlords” over repairs that needed to be done to the house.

There were holes in the walls and floors and broken windows that the landlords promised to fix. When they didn’t perform the  repairs Ms. Cullins withheld her rent. She was eventually evicted by the landlords only to find out that people she had been paying her rent to didn’t even own the house.

Tacco Cullins and her children ranging in age from 19 to 2 had to move immediately and are now staying in a hotel. The Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFACS) has threatened to take the children from Ms. Cullins unless they have someplace stable to live.

Civil rights activists including Joe Beasley of Antioch Baptist Church, Derrick Boazman of WAOK-AM and Tim Franzen of Occupy Atlanta are working with the family to get them into a home.

A house has been located for $950 rent per month.  Boazman said they want to raise about $20,000 to pay for the family’s rent and help stabilize them for 2 years.
