ATLANTA (APD/WAOK)-It is going to be a busy weekend downtown and the Atlanta Police Department has some suggestions on the best way for you to get around.

Approximately 250,000 people are expected to visit the Downtown Atlanta area.

In an effort to ensure a safe and enjoyable time in the city the Atlanta Police Department would like to encourage attendees to follow some simple rules:

  • Use MARTA, carpool or consider other transportation alternatives
  • If coming south on I-75, use the Northside Dr exit to access the Georgia World Congress Center or the Georgia Dome
  • Be aware of your surroundings at all times; using caution with the use of electronics such as cell phones, laptops, and tablet computers in public places
  • Adhere to the APD’s “Clean Car Campaign,” ensuring to leave no valuables whatsoever in your vehicle
  • Call 911 to report suspicious activity as part of the APD’s “See Something/Say Something” campaign
