Atlanta (WAOK)- Family members of Troy Davis have announced funeral plans for this Saturday. Davis will be buried on Saturday, October 1, 2011 following funeral services at 11 a.m. at Jonesville Baptist Church on Montgomery Street in Savannah. The service will be open to the public, however, media cameras willl not be allowed.

Davis, 42, was put to death on Sept. 21 for the murder of Savannah police officer Mark MacPhail in 1989,  after being denied clemency by the Georgia Board of Pardons and Parole.

Part of the monies needed for the funeral and burial were raised at a special Sunday collection at Ebenezer Baptist Church where one of many rallies was also held in Atlanta before Davis’ death.

Donations can also be made to the I AM TROY DAVIS fund at the Capitol City Bank, P.O. Box 2105, Savannah, Ga. 31407, in lieu of flowers.
