It looks like Colts quarterback Peyton Manning won’t play at all this season.  Team owner Jim Irsay made that comment yesterday morning at a breakfast meeting with Super Bowl donors, but coach Jim Caldwell said they remain hopeful.

Irsay quickly tweeted to clarify that he did not say Manning was definitely out for the year, adding there is an “outside chance” he could return in December.  Quarterback Kerry Collins’ status for this weekend is up in the air after he suffered a concussion in Sunday night’s loss to the Steelers.

The Philadelphia Eagles got some good news Monday about quarterback Michael Vick.  Head coach Andy Reid says a CT scan shows the veteran signal-caller’s hand is bruised but not broken as originally feared.  Reid says X-rays taken during Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants showed Vick may have a fracture.  Vick was injured on a hit by Giants defensive end Chris Canty in the third quarter.  He finished the drive, went for X-rays, then returned for one more series before leaving for good.  Vick’s status for Sunday’s game against the 49ers is uncertain.
