PIGS & PEACHES BBQ FESTIVAL IS FRIDAY & SATURDAY

The City of Kennesaw’s 2011 Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival will be held this Friday and Saturday, August 26-27 at Adams Park in Kennesaw. Festival hours are Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Festival has become one of the premier barbeque events in North Georgia, featuring a non-sanctioned Backyard BBQ, Anything Butt and Peach Dessert Contest, as well as a Georgia State Championship and Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) sanctioned Professional Contest. Seventy-five teams are scheduled to compete.
FREE live entertainment will be offered on two stages.
On Friday, blues and rock legends Roger “Hurricane” Wilson and Steve Gornall will open on the main stage at 5:30 p.m. Florida-based Toulouse Street, a tribute to The Doobie Brothers, will headline at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, there will be puppet shows, youth dance performances, and cooking demonstrations on the Kid Zone stage; along with blues and jazz acts, including celebrated musicians Tommy Keys and Martha Ann Brooks on the main stage. The Stranger, a tribute to the music of the piano man himself, Billy Joel, will headline the main stage at 7 p.m. The Toulouse Street and The Stranger concerts are part of the City of Kennesaw’s 2011 Summer Concert Series.READ MORE: Authorities Have Identified The Suspect Who Attacked Author Salman Rushdie
A patriotic fireworks display over Adams Park take place at 10 p.m. on Saturday after the final concert.

– Unique vendor and sponsor exhibits
– Kid Zone with inflatable slides, bounces, games and other fun activities
– Silver Wings Command Exhibition Parachute Demonstration Team (Saturday at 1 p.m.)
– U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter display (Saturday)
