Miguel Cotto claims fourth career championship!
NEW YORK (AP) — Miguel Cotto (KOH’-toh) has won the super welterweight title in the first fight card at Yankee Stadium in almost 34 years.
Cotto scored a TKO against previously-unbeaten champ Yuri Foreman 42 seconds into the ninth round for his fourth career title.
Foreman slipped in the seventh round and badly twisted his right knee, then slipped to the mat again later in the round. He survived to the end but could hardly move around the ring, limping on a right knee that was already covered by a black brace and getting tagged by Cotto at will.
