Back in 1992 Alon’s got started as a small bakery. It has since grown and expanded into two shops that serve a wide variety of gourmet fare. Their delicious sandwiches are made of fresh ingredients served on scratch-made bread. The Dunwoody location is a bit roomier than the Highland location (which has no indoor seating). The Asian barbecued salmon sandwich is recommended. Leave plenty of room for the excellent desserts.

Fresh, local ingredients are what make Sawicki’s so special. Layers of meats piled on one another without losing their individual flavors. Some consider their stacked sandwiches works of art. Their beef is 100% grass fed from small farmers, the other meats are also from local providers. The shrimp po’boy is recommended, as is the lamb.

Artisinal sandwiches that grew out of chef/owner Katie Birmingham’s frustration with the options for lunch in the Midtown area. The rest of us should be thankful she was so frustrated, because we get the joy of eating her swoon-worthy sandwiches in the minimalist, modern decor of her shop. Try one of the paninis.
