When you want Indian food, nothing else will satisfy that particular craving. Whether it’s the standard spinach saag or something more exotic, Atlanta restaurants are ready to spice up your life. From Buford Highway to Buckhead, there is a wide range of flavors and styles right here in your hometown.

Cardamom Hill Restaurant

Atlanta, GA 30318

This newcomer to Atlanta’s Indian restaurant scene was a finalist in the James Beard awards for best new restaurant in 2013, so you know there is something that makes it good. This restaurant focuses on the flavors of the southwestern region of the country, making it somewhat unique in Atlanta. It is an upscale, lovely experience, and you will appreciate the care in the wine selection as well as the food. It’s also a bit pricier than your average Indian restaurant, but it’s great for a special occasion.

Bhojanic
3400 Around Lenox Road, Suite 201
Atlanta, GA 30326
(404) 841-8472

This is not the divey, hole-in-the-wall Indian spot you may be used to. It’s located in Buckhead, so of course it is a bit more posh than you may expect. The decor is fresh and trendy, and it is a great central lunch location as well as a dinner destination. All of your traditional favorites will be on the menu, and you’ll definitely be satisfied with the fare. It’s not a terribly unique concept, but it will fulfill your craving.

Panahar
3375 Buford Highway N.E., Suite 1060
Atlanta, GA 30329
(404) 633-6655

No description of ethnic food in Atlanta could be complete without a shoutout to Buford Highway. Panahar is Atlanta’s only true Bangladeshi restaurant, so you can expect a different slant on Indian food. There is a daily lunch buffet starting at 11:30 a.m. that can give you the chance to try a few different tastes from the menu. The buffet is one of Atlanta’s best values, at only $10.

Cafe Bombay

Atlanta, GA 30329

Cafe Bombay positions itself as an Indian bistro, and accordingly, it is a great lunch spot with its warm and inviting decor. Expect to find the standard Indian menu fare here. The restaurant wins consistent praise for its vegetarian selections, so this is a good choice if you have a friend with a bit of a picky palate or with dietary restrictions. It does get busy around lunchtime, so be prepared for a small wait at peak times, or come for dinner and enjoy live belly dancing.

Purnima
4646 Buford Highway, Suite A
Atlanta, GA 30341
(770) 458-9493

Another Buford Highway spot, Purnima is very new to Atlanta’s scene. It doesn’t even have a website yet. You will be one of the first of your friends to discover this hidden little spot, but you won’t be disappointed. It is inexpensive and delivers everything you want in a quick Indian meal.
