We all have dreamed about being up on stage or being in the movies. There is a hidden performer and entertainer in all of us, so thankfully there are some great venues and establishments around Atlanta that have “open mic night” or as some people call it “amateur night.” This is a chance for you to show off your talent and skills in front of your peers. Join the band on Tuesdays and maybe you will get discovered. If you have a song of your own you want to perform, that can also be arranged. It’s a diverse crowd that will truly test your talent. The show starts at 10 p.m. so get in early to beat the crowds.

Wednesdays are live music open mic night at the Red Light Cafe. If you have never been to the Red Light before, there is nothing intimidating or pretentious about this place. It’s a comfortable setting to get up on stage and try a cover or two, or something original. The sign-up sheet starts circulating around at 7 p.m. so get there early to get a spot. Invite your family and friends so they can say they knew you before you became famous.

In addition to being known for its music, the Apache Cafe also has a great poetry night. This is an open forum for spoken word, poetry and even song lyrics. It can be emotional, it can be funny, but it’s always a great turnout on Sunday nights. The Apache Cafe is known for bringing out a mix of people and this open mic night for spoken word never disappoints.
