No. This isn’t some die-hard Atlanta Falcons fan spouting the “any given Sunday” nonsense. With Seattle nearly losing their last two games to teams that Atlanta has beaten this season, a win for the Falcons isn’t impossible.
Lack of possessions, lack of first downs, too many turnovers etc. Take your pick for why Atlanta couldn’t win their third game of the season.
Fans in New York never want to abandon thoughts of the postseason this early into any season. As frustrated as they may be, the hope of a postseason run remains in the minds of the fans of both New York NFL teams.
So much for a storybook ending to Tony Gonzalez’ NFL career. With last year’s Falcons team 10-yards away from a Super Bowl berth, it seemed like Gonzalez would have a realistic shot at ending his career holding the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Even though Atlanta had more than 80 percent of their plays against Arizona going through the air, that’s something they want to do again against Carolina. With Carolina’s top five rushing defense, Atlanta would do well to avoid running the ball.
This is one of those games where basically nothing went well for Atlanta. The only stat of significance they had in their favor was time of possession. Even though they held the ball for more than 34 minutes, it didn’t matter.
He hasn’t been in a uniform since the Week 2 victory over his former team, but with Steven Jackson now practicing with Atlanta this week, don’t be surprised if he finally makes his return.
