It’s official, for the first time since Matt Ryan and Mike Smith have been part of the franchise, the Atlanta Falcons will post a losing record after being dealt a tough 17-13 loss at the hands of their NFC South rival New Orleans Saints.
As if losing Julio Jones for the rest of the season and Roddy White being used primarily as a decoy due to his nagging injuries wasn’t enough, Atlanta may also have to make due without Tony Gonzalez and Julio’s replacement, Harry Douglas this week against the Tampa Bay Bucs.
Seattle has beaten their last two opponents by a combined eight points. Atlanta has beaten both St. Louis and Tampa Bay by 15 total points. This is a winnable game against the Seahawks. Here’s how they can win their third of the season.
This is one of those games where basically nothing went well for Atlanta. The only stat of significance they had in their favor was time of possession. Even though they held the ball for more than 34 minutes, it didn’t matter.
Don’t count out the Falcons just yet. It’s true that Atlanta is currently just 2-4. But with a much-needed 31-23 victory over the now 0-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Dirty Birds can still salvage the season with 10 games still remaining.
