Last year, the 49ers made an improbable run to the Super Bowl, before falling one play short of reaching the ultimate team goal. They lost to the Baltimore Ravens, a more experienced team that rode momentum all the way to a Championship. This year it’s San Francisco who fits this description and unlike last year, the Niners have everything in place to get past the rest of the NFC.
Two of the NFL’s most decorated franchises will meet this Sunday when the Packers and 49ers meet in a NFC Wild Card matchup. The winner will move on in the playoffs, while the loser will face a disappointing end to a season that started with much higher aspirations.
Despite their dearth of recent success, all eyes will be on the Cowboys. For the karma and the drama, for better or worse, they are America’s team. Mostly for worse. Just watch on Sunday.
For the seventh time in 13 games this season, Atlanta lost a game by a single scoring possession. This time the Green Bay Packers were able to score the final 12 points of the game to squeak by the Falcons by a single point.
With the news that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be out at least one more week with an injury, Atlanta’s chances to win their fourth game of the season just got a lot better.
It took overtime but Atlanta was finally able to win their third game of the season, coming back from a 14-point deficit to defeat the Buffalo Bills 34-31 in Toronto, Canada. They now head to Green Bay to take on the Packers who are going through a five-game winless streak of their own.
Thanks to the Green Bay Packers team injuries Atlanta has a good chance to win their second game in a row while keeping Green Bay winless for the sixth straight week.
The endless genius of the NFL can’t be completely quantified. But part of pro football’s popularity is burning its image in our culture and our consciousness.
