Tony Schiavone is Sports Writer and Baseball Analyst for 92-9 The Game. Before that, he spent 13 years as the Sports Director in radio here in Atlanta. He can be heard on the Georgia Bulldogs Football Network handling various pre-game interviews. He is also in the third year of being the producer and engineer of all UGA football broadcasts. Additionally, he was host of the Mark Richt Report heard on all stations on the ‘Bulldogs Network.’ He also spent eight years as the producer/engineer of all UGA men’s basketball broadcasts.

Schiavone currently is also the play-by-play voice of the Gwinnett Braves, Atlanta’s Triple-A affiliate; a job he has held ever since the team’s inception in 2009.

Schiavone’s past duties have included hosting the pregame and postgame shows on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network as well as handling color commentary on the Atlanta Hawks Radio Network.

Prior to his years in Atlanta radio, he was the host of WCW Monday Nitro on TNT and WCW Thunder on TBS. He spent 10 years with Turner Broadcasting as TV host and was the host of Monday Nitro when it was consistently one of the top-rated weekly cable television programs. Schiavone has appeared in the motion picture “Ready to Rumble,” released by Warner Brothers in 2000, and appeared in the HBO series Arli$$ in 1998. He is a member of SAG.

He also spent one year working for WWE as the play by play announcer for “WWE Challenge” and various matches on “WWE Prime Time Wrestling.” He also was the play by play announcer for “WWE SummerSlam in 1989 and “WWE Royal Rumble” in 1990. His off-air duties included being the producer for all “Coliseum” home videos for WWE.

Schiavone began his broadcasting career doing high school football and basketball play-by-play on WTON in Staunton, Virginia while studying at James Madison University. Upon graduation, he was hired as the play by play broadcaster for the Greensboro Hornets of the Class-A South Atlantic League. He then spent four years as the play by play broadcaster of the Charlotte O’s of the Double-A Southern League.

He and his wife, Lois, have five children: Matt, Laurie, Chris, Jon and Tim; three grandchildren: Olivia, Lizzie and Jackson; and four dogs: Dooley, Pip, Chewy and Bonnie.
