Producer, Director, Talk Radio Host, Activist
Princess Monique has come a long way from growing up in the inner city of Cleveland. She was honored to receive a proclamation from the city of Warrensville Heights, Ohio that declared October 24 Princess Monique Day for being a role model and a positive example of what the city stands for. She has traveled the world as a high fashion runway and print model for Ebony Fashion Fair and Jet Magazine. Ms. Monique has made several national television appearances including guest starring as an actress on hit sitcoms, Clueless, The Steve Harvey Show and The Parkers. Princess also has years of experience behind the camera producing and directing in many genres including television, film, commercials, PSA’s, and music videos. Her first film, The Call, won nine awards from film festivals in San Francisco, Hollywood, Los Angeles, New York, Cleveland, Denver, and Atlanta. Her most prestigious award was presented at The San Francisco Black Film Festival where she not only won 1st place for best short, she received the top honor, The Melvin Van Pebbles Award, for best overall film and best director. The Call’s message about HIV/AIDS has been so successful and so profound that it was viewed more than any other film while featured on BET J’s Best Short Film Competition. Princess is quickly becoming known as an aggressive HIV/AIDS activist and uses her voice and film work to educate youth and adults on prevention. She currently speaks across the country at various colleges and organizations.
Princess is also a strong believer in mentoring today’s youth and seeking mentorship from her personal mentors Chip Fields-Hurd (director, The Parkers, Girlfriends, Meet The Browns), director Daren Grant, (Diary of a Mad Black Woman), producer, director, actor Bill Duke (Predator, Get Rich or Die Trying) and executive producer and director Pamela Fryman (How I Met Your Mother, Just Shoot Me). With excellence as her standard in her work and with help from advisors she has come into her own as founder and CEO of Princess Films Productions. This production company focuses on education and entertainment with a determination on presenting more positive, but realistic images of African-Americans.
After working with Ervin “Magic” Johnson’s Magic Hallway Pictures, Princess went on to graduate at the top of her class from Los Angeles City Community College with an associate’s degree in Cinema Production. She’s has produced varies showcases highlighting talent from all walks of entertainment. She recently directed behind the scene footage for Steve Harvey’s inner city award shown known as the Hoodie Awards.
After being in Los Angeles, CA for last fourteen years she has gained experience, education and excellent relationships that will serve her in her new endeavors in Atlanta, GA.
Her current projects include the feature film The Seasons of Love, 911 Films an educational short film series focusing on the top core issues of America’s teens, a documentary, What Happen In Cleveland?, about Cleveland, Ohio’s first known African American serial killer, she’s also hosting two television shows in Atlanta, GA, Take Action, motivating others to do their part to increase awareness and education on HIV/AIDS and Guess Who’s In Town, a show that showcases Atlanta natives that are doing great things in the community
as well as those who visit for various reasons. Even with a full plate she continues to be a guest speaker at varies events focusing on HIV/AIDS prevention. And as WOAK’s (AM radio and sister station to Atlanta’s #1 FM station V-103) she is the on air host of For Girls Only with Princess. Ms. Monique is enlightening, enhancing and empowering the lives of teen girls in Atlanta. ATL Hollywood is the newest venture for Princess and business partner Ricardo Benitez where she is the promoter and host of various events like Rapid Romance (the new speed dating experience).
With all of the experience, education, focus and determination Princess is well on her way of making her mark in education and the entertainment industry.
