Bio: Longtime Atlanta resident and veteran sportscaster Mike Sammond began his broadcasting career in radio while still a college student at the University of Georgia in the late 1980’s. Since then, he has worked as a sports director at radio and television stations throughout the Southeast including three years at WRBL-TV in Columbus and three years as a sports anchor at CNN Headline News.
Mike is also an award-winning play-by-play announcer with extensive experience announcing high school, college and professional sports including baseball, basketball, hockey and football. Over the years, he has announced sports for the University of Georgia, Atlanta Braves, Gwinnett Braves, International Hockey League and Arena Football League among others.
On the international sports stage, Mike serves as an announcer for Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS). He has covered the Winter Olympics in Vancouver (2010), Youth Olympics in Singapore (2010), Summer Games in London (2012) and soon the 2016 Summer Games in Rio. He also announced basketball and table tennis at the 2015 European Games in Azerbaijan.
Away from the broadcast booth, Mike has been a part-owner, team president and front-office executive for professional teams in minor league hockey and arena football.
Today, in addition to working at 92-9 The Game, Mike owns and operates two online business talk radio studios in the Atlanta area with Business RadioX. Since opening his first studio in Gwinnett in 2012, over 1,000 local business leaders have come through his doors to talk about the great work they are doing in their community.
