Jon Jeffries
Sports Director / Anchor / Reporter

Working in radio since 1978, Jon has interviewed many top entertainers such as Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen Degeneres, Drew Carey, the late Sam Kinison, and has covered appearances by former presidents Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. He enjoyed playing baseball as a kid, and racquetball as a young adult but now, it’s all golf, golf and more golf. Among his favorite sports experiences, he notes seeing Lou Brock steal a base in a game right before, at that time, breaking the record for the most in a season. He also recalls seeing Bob Gibson get his 3,000th strike-out — then years later, playing golf in Gibson’s celebrity / charity golf tournament, where he got to be in the same room with Gibson and Sandy Koufax. Signature phrase: “Jack of all trades, master of fun!”

Jeffries: It’s Another Links Style Course For A Major Championship

The guys might not be “Whistling” while they’re working the “Straits”. This must be the year of the “Throwback”, if you don’t know what I mean just Google “Whistling Straits”. It’s another “LINKS” style course […]

US golfer Jordan Spieth reacts after nearly chipping in on the 13th hole during his final round, on day five of the 2015 British Open Golf Championship on The Old Course at St Andrews in Scotland, on July 20, 2015. The weather-affected championship, finishes on Monday for only the second time in 155 years. If he wins, Spieth would be just the second man ever to win the first three majors of the year - Masters, US and British Opens - after Ben Hogan, who did so in 1953. Jeffries: Choke at the Open – Nope!

The day after the finish at the Open, by the water cooler, I overheard some chatter about Jordan Spieth choking it away. I’ll tell you nothing could be further from the truth. Maybe some people […]

Jeffries: What… Another “Open Championship”?

It seems like just a couple of days ago we were watching guys chopping wood and hacking out of the weeds, excuse me, “native grasses” at what looked like the “Open Championship”. In my mind […]

Jon Jeffries: “Is this the U.S. Open or ‘The Open’?”

Normally I get really fired up about the U.S. Open, it’s our National Championship, played in a beautiful setting on one of the toughest tracks that rotate in the states. Well, one out of two […]

Who Will Be The “Play-yuh” At The Players

Golf’s 5th major tees this week at TPC Sawgrass, actually it’s not a major but should be. Of course the “traditionalists” would argue that all the record books would have to be changed. O.k., go […]

It’s The Masters. Is It Going To Be A Disaster? Don’t Think So, But A “Repeat Offender” Will Win This Year

Tiger Woods has been on the trail at Augusta for the past week or so knocking the rock around, trying to “get it back”. He says he does, the problem is, he’s forgotten how to […]

Jon Jeffries: Something Has Tiger By The Tail

Tiger not teeing it at Arnie’s party? Say it isn’t so. Most golf fans were shocked when Woods said he’ll take a pass on the Bay Hill Invitational, a tournament he’s owned through the years, […]
