In Henry County, the Home2 Suites was evacuated and dozens of guest waited outside, as S.W.A.T. officers went room-to-room as part of a sweep. Georgia authorities were responding to a call, stating that an arm man entered into the lobby carrying firearms. The man has been identified as Shermane Jernine Perkins, 43. It was reported that the hotel staff went into lock down mode after Perkins fired through the lobby door and made his way upstairs.
Once captured, Police said that Perkins appeared to be under the influence or suffering from possible mental issues. They also stated that he suffered cuts on his arms and legs but they are unsure how he was cut.
The incident happened Monday around 6:30 a.m. on Mill Road in McDonough. Police are also looking for a possible second crime scene.
