A family is feeling that justice has been served as Khyree Swift and a 16 year-old boy were denied bond today in Clayton County. Swift and the 16 year old juvenile were arrested for stealing a vehicle with two children inside. They stole the vehicle on Wednesday, from a QT gas station, located in the 5300 block of Riverdale Road, around 5 p.m.
The children’s mother, Precious Wilmer, reported to police that her 2009 Chevy Equinox was stolen while she was in the gas station. She told police that she left her kids in the running vehicle, unattended, near the gas pumps while she went into the building. Wilmer said that as she was coming out of the store, she realized that someone had driven away with her kids in the backseat.
Georgia State University’s Police Chief Joseph Spillane found Wilmer’s 4-year-old child, Arya Davenport, walking down the shoulder of a road near I-285 and Riverdale Road. The second child, 1-month-old Ava Wilmer, was found when a local television photographer noticed a child still strapped to her car seat and contacted the police. Precious Wilmer’s vehicle, was later found by Atlanta police off Metropolitan Parkway.
