FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Falcons wide receiver Taylor Gabriel is so fast, he’s been given, and has totally accepted, the nickname “Turbo.” His 40-yard dash time has been clocked at 4.27 seconds, but the NFL showed a new measure of his speed during his Week 3 game in Detroit.
According to NFL Next Gen Stats, on his 40-yard touchdown catch Gabriel topped out at 20.58 MPH.
“That’s kind of slow, man. It’s kind of slow,” said Gabriel laughing. “It was only 40 yards, I really couldn’t get it going.”
His blazing score was the fifth-fastest of the weekend, behind Bengals cornerback William Jackson (21.52 MPH), Kansas City’s Tyreek Hill (21.17), the Jets Robby Anderson (20.88) and the Chiefs Kareem Hunt (20.82).
“Man, there’s no such thing as being fifth.”
Not only is Gabriel sure he could top that 20.58 MPH mark he set against the Lions, he just knows he could win a race against another famous Atlanta speedster.
“I would get him,” said Gabriel, sure he would win a race against the popular Atlanta attraction “The Freeze,” who races in between innings at Braves games.
