Guide To 2017 Oktoberfest Events In Atlanta

While Oktoberfest is an old tradition in Germany that began in 1810, today this two-week festival is celebrated worldwide, and regaled as a national beer drinking day for most. The festival traditionally features lively music, authentic foods inspired by its place of origin, games, amusement rides, and of course, lots of deliciously brewed beer. In Atlanta, Oktoberfest is especially grand with the explosion of so many breweries, you’ll have plenty events to choose from to experience the best pumpkin spice brew, along with your smoked sausage and sauerkraut. Here are the best Oktoberfest events in the city of Atlanta.

Date: Sept. 30, 2017 at 1 p.m.

This is Atlanta’s biggest German-Themed party and the most authentic celebration of Oktoberfest you will find within the city of Atlanta. All the traditional Oktoberfest activities will be featured including German polka music performed by The Wurstbrats, Chattanooga’s premiere oompah band. An abundance of German foods including Bavarian pretzels and sausages, and amazing games like giant Jenga, Connect Four, Corn-hole, and more. General admission ticket prices are $17.50, and VIP ticket prices are $60. With purchase of a general admission ticket attendees receive entry, a souvenir 22 oz. beer stein and their first beer free. VIP admission ticket includes a 22 oz. beer stein, 4 complimentary beers, a commemorative Oktoberfest t-shirt, and a complimentary meal voucher.

The best way to enjoy a guilt-free day of drinking German beer all day is to include a 5K in your festival celebration. Active is sponsoring their annual Oktoberfest 5K. The event features a post-run outfit contest, great German inspired foods, beers and more. Also, all proceeds benefit the German-American Culture Foundation for educational programs that bring awareness. Individual age group fee is $35, VIP runner is $50. All runners receive a shirt, post-race snacks, and a certificate of completion. VIP runners also receive a shirt, beer stein, certificate of completion, postrace German buffet of delicious foods and a complimentary beverage ticket.

Come rain or shine, Alpharetta holds a citywide Octoberfest celebration you won’t want to miss if you’re within their city limits. Locals gather for a night filled with some of the best locally brewed fall beer, wine and succulent foods from some of Alpharetta’s stellar restaurants. Join the crowds dancing in the streets as a live band keeps the party going into the late hours of the night. Entry fee is $10, $130 for a table of 8, and $100 for a table of six. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own chairs, and no backpacks are allowed.

The city of Helen, GA has a rich history influenced by German culture and each year locals mark their calendars for their annual Oktoberfest celebration that spans throughout the month of September and October. Experience the most authentic activities such as German waltzes, polkas and the chicken dance. There will also be authentic German foods, drinks, music and activities that the entire family can enjoy. For those attending on Sundays, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 1 p.m. to 12 a.m., and during the weekdays, 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with the exception of Fridays closing at 12 a.m. Admission fees for attendees is $8 Monday – Friday, $10 on Saturday, and free on Sundays. What better way to celebrate Oktoberfest than in Atlanta’s German beer garden at Das Biergarten? Touted at the most authentic German experience in the heart of downtown Atlanta, prepare to feel like you’ve actually traveled to Germany as you indulge in over a half dozens of German brews and foods from their beautiful country. This year they’ll also have live music by the Trans Am Euro Mutts, a German-inspired polka band. Admission tickets are $15 which include 1 complimentary drink, and $60 VIP admission which include complimentary drink ticket, VIP seating and access to their delicious buffet.
