The Atlanta Hawks are headed into the offseason with some decisions to make about their makeup of their roster moving forward. Star power forward Paul Millsap will likely be a free agent after opting out of his contract and the team has expressed interest in trying to retain him. If Millsap were to do so, then he would join Thabo Sefolosha, Ersan Ilyasova, Mike Muscala, Kris Humphries as Hawks players who will be unrestricted free agents. The team also needs to decide what to do with restricted free agent Tim Hardaway Jr.
When making those decisions, the Hawks will have some new management according to a report from The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
As you can see from the Woj report, it seems that head coach Mike Budenholzer, who was also handling the president of basketball operations duties, will relinquish those but remain as head coach. Meanwhile, GM Wes Wilcox will step out of that role according to Woj, but remain in the front office. A more detailed report was written by Woj on his site earlier today.
So, it seems that Budenholzer will focus more on coaching next season and the Hawks will have a new decision making group atop the front office heading into this offseason.
