A large part of the sports media business these days centers around making predictions on the outcomes of games, seasons, playoffs, etc. Since no one is clairvoyant, oftentimes these predictions turn out to be horribly wrong. TNT NBA analyst Charles Barkley, by nature of his job, finds himself in the position of having to make many of these types of predictions during the course of the NBA season. Like anybody else, Sir Charles does get one wrong every so often and the Hawks were quick to pounce on one prognostication he made just prior to the playoffs starting.
Yep, that’s Charles saying that the Wizards would sweep the Hawks in their first round series. After games 1 & 2, it looked like he would be correct on this prediction with the Wiz taking both games at home in Washington before the series moved to Atlanta. The Hawks won both games at home, evening the series, which led to the above trolling by the team’s social media accounts.
Charles predicted before the season that the Hawks would miss the playoffs and clearly, he was wrong on that prediction too as the team was oh so willing to remind him of.
Well, you can’t get them all right. The Hawks and Wiz renew their series tonight in the nation’s capital with a 6 p.m. Eastern tip time on TNT.
