Gwinnett County Commissioner Still Facing Fallout From Remarks Against Congressman Lewis

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA- a. – A Gwinnett County commissioner faced more backlash following comments aimed at congressman John Lewis that were posted on his personal social media account. The commissioner had previously posted on Facebook that Lewis was a racist pig after Lewis said that Donald Trump’s presidency was not legitimate.
Tuesday night commissioner Tommy Hunter was forced out of a local NAACP meeting he was invited to attend.

Protesters lined up outside the meeting and even just steps away from Hunter as he agreed to speak. In what appeared a matter of minute, he was ushered out of the meeting abruptly after repeated heckling. The raucous crowd called for his resignation due to the above mentioned remark.
The newly re-elected commissioner has said publicly, he has no plans to resign. On the heels of that statement, the county has been asked to convene an ethics board, citing Hunter’s quote “unprofessional and inappropriate posts on Facebook.”
