Atlanta Braves Dedicate Roadway To One Time Highest Ranking African American In Baseball

COBB COUNTY, GEORGIA- During a press conference Thursday the Atlanta Braves organization made dedications at the new Suntrust Park. The dedication of a room at the park where decisions are to be made about personnel and an entrance roadway to the park immortalized Bill Lucas. He spent more that 20 years with the Braves organization, first as a player in the minor league system for six years before heading to a front office position. When Lucas was named vice president and director of player personnel for the Braves in 1976 he became the highest ranking African American in baseball.
