Real Talk with Rashad Richey: What Do You Think President Trump Should Do About Inner-City Violent Crimes?

Ok… So President Trump has now tweeted if Chicago doesn’t fix the carnage he will send in the feds. Sounds like sending in the troops to me. Let’s analyze this. Does he think the only way to resolve problems in the inner city is to add more police? I don’t see this same tactic being proposed in other communities where opioid abuse is high leading to increases in violent crimes….like Hickory, North Carolina. We all know Chicago has problems with gang violence but adding more cops won’t fix it. Most of these crimes are committed by young people. The same young people who had their schools closed and were forced to attend schools in rival gang territories and many of them decided to drop out rather than face a gang war. We can invest in rec centers for teens, employ qualified gang deprogrammers or reopen these closed institutions. Here’s a concern…if Trump will do this in Chicago what’s to stop him from doing the same in LA, New York or Atlanta?

What role should government play in assisting our inner cities? Comment below.
