The vaunted Seattle Seahawks defense that has wreaked havoc on the NFC and the NFL for the better part of the decade has been no match for the high-powered Atlanta Falcons offense.
Matt Ryan and Co. have simply dominated the “Legion of Boom” from the outset and have scored points on four of their five drives on the day, including their last drive, which ended in a Devonta Freeman touchdown to cap off a 13-play, 75-yard Falcons scoring drive to extend their lead to 26-10.
The drive was the Falcons’ second drive of at least 13 plays and 70 yards on the day.
Midway through the third quarter, Matt Ryan has thrown for 221 yards and two touchdowns and is 18 of 25 passing, while Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman have registered a touchdown a piece and have been unstoppable out of the backfield as passing and rushing threats.
While Julio Jones hasn’t been operating at 100 percent and has sat out key plays throughout the afternoon, he’s still had his way with Richard Sherman and any Seahawks defender that’s been unfortunate enough to try guarding him. He has six catches for 67 yards and a TD midway through the third as well.
