Shawty Lo, the well-loved rapper from Atlanta received a final farewell Saturday. Hundreds of family, friends, and members of the hip-hop community, attended funeral services for the Bankhead Community product at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church on Fairburn Road. The 40 year old, whose real name was Carlos Walker, was killed in a one-car crash early on September 21, when his car hit a guardrail. Police said that Lo was not wearing a seat belt, and was thrown from his 2016 Audi. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said the official cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Lo was the founder of the group D4L and was the father of 11 children.
About an hour before the service was set to begin, one could see there would be a huge turnout. As of this writing, hundreds of thousands of V-103 Facebook page users, have seen pictures of the activities prior to the funeral. WSB TV reports that as-many-as 8 million people watched its online stream of the service.
Shawty Lo was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, GA.
