Let’s flash back to last season for a minute. Josh Norman didn’t exactly shut Julio Jones down in that late-season meeting. It was Week 16 and Jones had 9 catches for 178 yards and 1 touchdown. According to Pro Football Focus, with Norman in coverage, Jones was targeted six times and caught five passes for 80 yards, including 25 yards after the catch.
Now let’s jump back to yesterday. Julio Jones caught 12 passes for a record 300-yards and a touchdown.
Norman was asking for $16 million per year after last season and the Panthers’ weren’t interested in paying. So Josh took his “talents” to Washington where he signed a 5-year, $75 million contract. But the Panthers might be regretting that move, as Julio, and other WR’s have carved up their secondary.
Whether or not it would have made any difference yesterday is speculation, but Josh Norman seems to think it would have:
Norman did get his first interception of the season in the Redskins’ win on Sunday, but could he have slowed down Julio?
We doubt it.
