Julio Jones had a rough time on Monday night as he was held to just one catch on seven targets for 16 yards in the Falcons 45-32 win over New Orleans. That performance came after back-to-back weeks with a touchdown to open the year.
Today, against the defending NFC South champion Carolina Panthers, quarterback Matt Ryan made it a priority to find the big wide receiver and it paid off. On the Falcons second drive of the game, on 1st and 16 from his own 25 yard line, Ryan threw deep down the right sideline and Jones hauled it in.
That 32-yard catch was part of a five play 98-yard touchdown drive to put Atlanta up 14-0. Jones had four receptions for 94 yards in the first quarter.
