Ryan Mayer

Julio Jones is clearly one of the top wide receivers in the NFL. That’s why it was so surprising to see him record only one catch in Monday night’s win against the New Orleans Saints. After three games, Jones had made just ten catches for 188 yards and two touchdowns.

Heading into Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers, getting Julio back on track seemed to be a priority. The Falcons did that and more as Jones nearly equaled his season’s production to this point in just the first half against the Panthers. Quarterback Matt Ryan targeted Jones nine times and connected on seven of those attempts for 170 yards.

While Jones didn’t get a touchdown, he did make a couple of nice grabs in the half including this one along the sidelines that led to the Falcons second touchdown.

Even when the Panthers defense got their hands on a pass like Luke Kuechly did here, it didn’t matter. Julio caught it.

Needless to say, fantasy football owners with Jones on their team are pretty happy with his first half production. Falcons fans are pretty happy too, with a 17-10 lead at the half.
