Three weeks of the high school football season are in the record books and there are two teams that wore the crown at season’s end that have done a complete about face, so far in 2016. Last season Colquitt County was a perfect 15-0 winning the class AAAAAA championship, while Allatoona went 14-1 taking the AAAAA title. So far in 2016 the Pork Packers from Moultrie and the Swashbucklers from Acworth are a combined 0-6.

Grayson is the team with sights on the crown in the state’s largest class this season and they bounced back from the IMG setback with a dramatic road win over McEachern. Deerfield Beach, Florida is next for the Rams.

Last season brought unusual records for Griffin (6-5) and Carrollton (6-6). After off season coaching changes both the Bears and Trojans are 2-0 .

From our “Welcome Back” department , how about the Lassiter Trojans who handed the Kell Longhorns their first loss of 2016 and improved their own record to 3-0. The last time the Trojans started a season 3-0 was 2011.. The South Gwinnett Comets handed the Brookwood Broncos their first loss of 2016 in”The Battle Of Snellville”. The Comets are 3-0 to start the season for the first time  since 2009.  The Harrison Hoyas  are 3-0 after beating North Cobb. It was the Warriors first loss of the season making the Hoyas 3-0 to start the season for the first time since 2008.

The Mill Creek Hawks had little trouble with Dacula last week and cling to the top spot in this week’s High School Power Hour Top 20 Poll. Next up for Mill Creek is a date with Archer. Roswell is second and will welcome a winless Colquitt County team to town for game that will televised statewide on GPB Sports. Cartersville, Grayson and Norcross round out the top 5 for this week.
