ATLANTA — The Falcons took part in the waiver wire frenzy on Sunday to select wide receiver Taylor Gabriel, who has spent the past two seasons with the Cleveland Browns and has recorded 64 catches for 862 yards and one touchdown. Atlanta’s waiver wire priority was 17th.
Since the addition of Gabriel was for Atlanta’s 53-man roster, the team was forced to waiver wide receiver Nick Williams.
With the Falcons’ 53-man roster in tact, they added seven players Sunday to the practice squad: defensive end Nordly Capi, cornerback Devonte Johnson, nose tackle Joey Mbu, wide receiver J.D. McKissic, safety Sharrod Neasman, quarterback Matt Simms, and tight end D.J. Tialavea.
Atlanta still has three open spots on its practice squad. A release from the team stated the Falcons plan to “fill out the practice squad over the next couple of days.”
