5. Are Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines really ready to win the Big Ten?
The chic team in CFB this year, Michigan still has lots of questions at QB, RB, and WR. They do feature perhaps the best TE in CFB and a dominate secondary, but last year lost to the 2 best teams in their division (including a 29 pt loss to rival OH St).
4. Can Alabama do it again with another 1st year starting QB?
It will be the 4th consecutive year Bama features a new starter at QB. RB is also a position not as stable as in years past, but a dominant O-line and maybe once again the best defense in America, they’ve proved you don’t need great QB to win it all.
3. Which Power 5 conference is most in danger of being left out of the College Football Playoff?
Things set up this year with teams playing top tier opponents in the first 3 weeks of the season that somebody thought to be in Natl Title contention is knocked out early. The Pac 12 and Big 12 to me are the most viable candidates to be on the lookout for.
2. Which Justin Thomas and Ga Tech offense do we get this year?
Numerous injuries, a big drop year over year in 3rd down conversion %, ineffective WR play, breaking in new/young RBs, and poor play at times from QB Thomas all led to Tech seeing a drop off of 10 wins year over year. I expect a bounce back year from Thomas and this O to be back in that 300+ rushing yards per game territory again.
1. Can Kirby do what McElwain did last year?
Even though UGA is not the favorite to win the SEC east under 1st year HC Kirby Smart, all the talent is there to grab a hold of it. UGA is no less talented than Florida or Tennessee, but needs to get back on the winning track against their top East rivals. A trip to Ole Miss will be tough but the schedule is still very manageable to win in Kirby’s inaugural season.
