CARROLLTON, GA – Asa North has been booked and charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of reckless conduct. North was charged after his twin 15 month old daughters were found in his SUV Thursday evening in Carrollton, police said Friday. Investigators also said alcohol played a role in the deaths of Ariel Roxanne and Alaynah Maryanne North.
Police arrived on the scene shortly after 6:30 p.m. Thursday and found the twins unresponsive. Attempts by their father along with neighbors, who placed the toddlers in a kiddie pool with shallow water. CPR was also performed but proved unsuccessful.
The children were taken to Tanner Medical Center where they were pronounced dead. Investigators believe North was drinking alcohol Thursday evening, said Capt. Chris Dobbs, Corrollton police department.
The suspect is scheduled for his first court appearance Saturday.
