Friendship Towers: Judge Names “Special Master” To Determine If Air Conditioning Is Working

A Fulton County Judge has appointed a “Special Master”, a third-party, to determine whether or not the air conditioning at the Friendship Towers residential facility is working properly. Judge Jerry Baxter handed the task to Richard Pease who says, “I’m supposed to go to the building, look at the air conditioning systems and be sure they’re working.” The HVAC problems have been going on for months.

Wednesday’s court hearing, with residents and advocates in attendance, was to also determine whether rent has to be paid by the residents. The judge has requested that the attorney for the residents provide relevant law as to whether the judge has the authority to decide if the rent should be abated.
