Tornado sirens wailed across the Atlanta area Monday. Tornado watches and warnings were issued through the day by the National Weather Service Office in Peachtree City (GA). Various sizes of hail were reported in north Fulton and Cobb counties. Torrential rains were reported in Gwinnett County. The storms were described as “strong and severe.”

One woman died early Monday morning when a tree fell through her home on Oakcliff Road in northwest Atlanta. Reports indicate that police believe the ground was so saturated that the huge oak tree could no longer stand. She was identified as 60 year old Dr. Patricia Pusha, a science taecher at McNair Middle School.

I talked with National Weather Service senior meteorologist Kent Frantz about the system that’s moving through the area and what’s next for us.
