ATLANTA (AP) — A new report found that Georgia has the nation’s 18th-highest adult obesity rate.
The ranking was part of a report released Thursday by the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The annual report found that Georgia’s adult obesity rate is 30.3 percent.
The organization said that for the first time ever, adult obesity rates are above 35 percent in two states — Mississippi and West Virginia.
The study found that 20 states topped 30 percent obesity in 2013 — up from 12 states in 2010. Officials said that most of the 10 states with the highest obesity rates are in the South.
Colorado continued to be the thinnest state at 21.3 percent.
