Atlanta (WAOK)- A father of four is killed in what police are calling a drunken driving incident. The victim, 38 year old Jasper Collier was killed early Sunday morning. According to police, Collier was struck and killed by suspected drunk driver suspect Cecily Bryant.
The accident happened in a nearly head on collision at the intersection of Joseph E, Lowery Boulevard and Neal Street.
Collier was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police say Collier was not wearing a seatbelt.
A vigil was held at the scene of the accident on Sunday night where dozens attended paid tribute and prayed for justice.
Bryant was arrested at the scene and faces charges including vehicular homicide and driving under the influence.
In the incident report, investigators said there was a passenger in Bryant’s 2006 Nissan. The passenger was not injured and was allowed to leave the scene.
Bryant was supposed to appear in court Monday, but remains at Grady Memorial Hospital recovering from injuries she sustained during the crash.
