ATLANTA (AP) — An Atlanta Police officer suspected in the murder of a 26-year-old woman has been arrested while trying to catch a flight to Mexico, authorities say.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement that 23-year-old Tahreem Zeus Rana was arrested Thursday morning at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, where he was scheduled to travel to Monterey, Mexico.

Hapeville Police tell WSB-TV that Rana will be charged with murder, arson and kidnapping in connection with the death of Vernicia Woodard. Her body was discovered on fire along a road on Friday.

Atlanta Police spokesman Carlos Campos told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Rana has been removed from active duty. Campos says Atlanta Police Chief George Turner plans to hold an emergency hearing Thursday on Rana’s status.
