COLUMBUS, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) – A Christian church wants to spread the love of Christ over a drink.

A group in Columbus wants to meet once a week at a bar.

“It’s about love, the love of God,” Arlen Mott, owner of The Hangout told WTVM. “There’s no judgment, no condemnation.  If you want to have a drink, while we’re in here, it’s an open bar. This is not a church.”

Mott, along with Fairview Baptist Church youth minister Patt Gilbert, and organizer Ken Hudmon, told the station that they want to “reach out and spread the Word of God.”

“It’s a place for broken, hurting people that may never go to the church doors again,” Mott told WTVM.

“We’re showing people the love of God,” Gilbert added.

Not everyone may agree on meeting and worshiping at a bar, but if you do, it is free to the public.

Worship begins at 7 every Tuesday night.
