ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Public Schools officials say 10 students have been treated for exposure to pepper spray after a fight involving two students on a school bus.
Authorities say the Maynard Jackson High School students were taken to Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital and then released to their parents around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
School officials say in a statement that they were among 32 students on a bus during the school’s Wednesday afternoon dismissal, when an altercation occurred between two males.
Kimberly Willis Green, a spokeswoman with the school system, tells The Associated Press that the bus driver released the pepper spray. She said Thursday morning that the incident was still under review.
School district spokeswoman Jill Strickland tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that there are still some unanswered questions about what happened.(Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.)
