Today on Real Talk with Rashad Richey, the discussion was the city of Detroit terminating its water services to residents, but continuing services to businesses whose accounts were delinquent. Water officials from the city of Detroit, claim that a little more than half of the city’s residents owe a balance of at least $560, and have offered to schedule payment plans in efforts to assist residents in paying down their balances, while maintaining their water services. Although such claims appear to be a reasonable accommodation, many residents have failed to pay their water bills due to continuous economic hardship.
