Pregnant Woman Claims Nearly A Dozen Thieves Wearing Bathing Suits Attacked Her At Bus Stop
ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) – A group of thieves wearing bathing suits allegedly attacked a pregnant woman.
Jayla Morant, who is six months pregnant with her first child, said she was walking to a bus stop near Washington Road and Laurel Ridge Drive in East Point when she was attacked by nearly a dozen robbers on Wednesday at 5:30 a.m. The woman estimates that they were between the ages of 17 and 20.
“I personally counted three girls and seven boys,” Morant told WSB-TV.
Morant explained that she was surrounded by the robbers who tried to steal her purse and that they were all wearing bathing suits.
“The girl who tried to grab my purse had a bikini that was tied up on the back,” Morant said to WSB. “Where are they coming from? Let alone this many children at the same time.”
The future mother explained that she didn’t want to let them take her purse, which was across her shoulder and stomach.
“I’m with child, so there’s no way I’m just not going to give up what I had or put my life in danger,” she told WSB.
Morant gave up when one of the thieves dropped a gun on the ground. She said they stole her cell phone and left the area.
One of the suspects fired the gun three times as they said “Ya’ll can’t see me,” a police report stated.
Morant, who has bruises on her swolleen cheek, shared that she is happy she gave up the struggle when she did.
“That’s when I realized it was a loaded gun and I’m glad I was able to make it home safe,” she told WSB.
