According to numbers gathered by the Secretary of State this past Wednesday, over 51,000 people have already voted before the July 22 Georgia runoff election.

This tally is slightly behind the usual voting pace of the May 20 primary; however, this was expected due to the election being in the middle of vacation season.

The county with the highest voting turnout was DeKalb County.

The number of ballots cast was 51,659.

To vote early, go on the secretary of state’s “My Voter Page” website at http://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov and find out where in your area early voting is being held. Georgia voters are required to have a photo ID to vote.

Early voting will continue through July 18.
