Toddler Dies After Being Left In Vehicle

ATLANTA (AP) — Police say a toddler has died after being left in an SUV all day.

Cobb County police spokesman Dana Pierce says a man was supposed to drop his 22-month-old child off at daycare Wednesday but instead went straight to work. Authorities say the man was on his way home when he realized the child was still strapped into the car seat.

Temperatures in the Atlanta area reached the low 90s Wednesday.

Police say the man tried reviving the child but was unsuccessful. He drove to a local shopping center and called for help.

The child’s gender and identity haven’t been disclosed. Police say the man has been taken in for questioning and it’s unclear if charges will be filed.
