The NBA banned Sterling for life for "deeply offensive and harmful" racist comments that sparked a national firestorm. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver hit Sterling with every penalty at his disposal, fining him a maximum $2.5 million dollars and calling on other owners to force him to sell his team. Max Blecher, attorney for Donald Sterling, joined A to Z with Mark Zinno to discuss the Clipper’s owner to re-persue his lawsuit against the NBA.
Sterling initially showed support for the sale of the franchise to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for $2 billion. The league agreed to let the transfer of ownership of the team replace the owner’s vote for removal of Sterling.
