The Chick-fil-A Bowl, Atlanta’s college football bowl game, will restore “Peach” to it’s name. according to a report in the AJC this morning.
According to the report, Chick-fil-A Bowl officials are planning a press conference for Monday and will make the announcement there.
The new name will be “The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.”
The report goes on to state that Gary Stokan, president of the bowl, confirmed exclusively to the AJC that “It got down to what is our history, what is our heritage, what is our tradition and how can we pay homage to that in our name.”
It is also likely that there will be announcement on that same day that the bowl game will be elevated froma middle level bowl game to an elite higher profile game and part of the new four team College Football Playoff system.
According to the report in the AJC, the bowl game would have to have restored the Peach name in order to fit in line with the other bowl games in rotation.
