Man Given Two Consecutive Life Sentences For Raping Georgia Girls

ATLANTA (AP) — Cobb County District Attorney’s officials say a Florida man has been given two consecutive life sentences plus 20 years in prison for raping two young suburban Atlanta girls.

District Attorney’s spokeswoman Kim Isaza says 27-year-old George Henry Lawton of Jacksonville, Fla. was found guilty Thursday of rape, aggravated sodomy, and several counts of child molestation.

Authorities say Lawton was romantically involved with the victims’ mother between 2009 and 2011. Isaza says Lawton abused the girls when they were 5 and 8 years old, and one of the victims testified against him in court.
