Real Talk With Rashad Richey: Rashad Gets Real With Police Leadership & Victims of Police Brutality Alike
Police brutality in America is not uncommon to most folks. Many believe that some police officers abuse their authority, while some police officers believe that a couple of bad apples don’t spoil the whole bunch. Today, Rashad Richey had guest Attorney and Civil Rights Leader Robert Patillo who gave his expertise on some of the cases he has fought on the matter. Atlanta Police Chief George N. Turner called in and strongly suggested filing a complaint against a police officer if you feel your rights were violated. Rep. “Able” Mable Thomas was also in the studio and told listeners they can bring their complaint up before the Citizens Review Board.
Roberta Caban called in to give her story about an incident that happened to herself and friends at an Atlanta IHOP restaurant in 2011. Allegedly, an off duty police officer harassed her friends which led to several arrests. Patrons and Ms. Caban recorded the incident on their cell phones. In the end, Caban lost her job and updated WAOK listeners on what is happening in her life now. Rashad Richey plans on following up on this story.
